| Tesco Standard Mobile SIM Cards |
To go with our new telephones, the Mrs and I received Tesco Standard Mobile SIM Cards complete with our Tesco Pay as you go telephones. You can get one of 3 different SIM Cards though and we all know this as we firstly stopped to think about our options in store, and then had a nosey online when we went to register for credit! Typically you pay £2.47 for the standard, Additional or Price SIM Card but right now they are offering deals on all these so you buy them with some credit already on them for a bit less than the price of the credit. So that the Standard one for examples typically costs £2.47 and includes £10 worth of credit - but you can purchase it right now for £5. If you purchase a Tesco PAYG handset then you will get the Standard SIM card with £1 of credit on it included in the cost. I believe that it'd be better to chuck that SIM card though and pay £5 to get one with £10 of credit on it - certainly? Too late now we have started to use the number included with the free SIM card though . If you use the standard price list, you get nice easy pricing that is straightforward to understand. You pay 20p per minute to make a call no matter whether it is a mobile or landline. You then pay 10p per text message. Also, you can register your 3 fave numbers and pay just 10p per minute to call them and 5p per text you send to them. I suspect it's a smart idea for those that do not use their telephones that much. If you need the additional tariff, that fundamentally just means you agree to top up at least £15 a month for less expensive calls and texts. You pay just 10p per minute for all calls and 5p per minute for all texts. I have gone for this option as I use my telephone for work and all I had to do was opt in using my current standard SIM card.Something that is benefited both myself on the additional price list and the Mrs on the standard one is enrolling for regular top-ups. If you log on and register to top up regularly, you can get a ten percent discount. So that the Mrs has enrolled to top up £10 once a month ( we received to select on which date ) and this suggests she'll only pay £9 every month for her £10 credit. I subscribed to £15 every fortnight which I can only pay £13.50 a time for and I can still qualify for the less expensive tariff even with the saving. The Tesco Price price list we haven't used but I'll tell you what it is at least. It's essentially a cheap call package for people that do not use their telephones much. You pay 15p per minute for calls and 5p per text. The flaw to this is that you cannot access any extras on this price list. So you can't access the web, you cannot use your telephone abroad and you cannot send or receive pictures. You can literally call or text. So I'll see this being acceptable for some although not for us. The service so far has been good. I am not typically Tesco's largest fan but I am extraordinarily pleased so far. They do not charge us to call the helpline ( automated ) and we both got a useful getting started booklet with our telephone explaining the simplest way to use our SIM cards and what we would get from them. Also, because they are on the o2 network, Tesco cover 99% of the United Kingdom so we should not have any issues with coverage. I made up my mind to go with Tesco Mobile as I do not use my mobile too much so didn't wish a contract, I just wanted an inexpensive, simple to use pay as you go telephone and tarriff and Tesco offered it. One major difficulty I had with my telephone suppliers was their abominable shortage of ability in shopper service as I'm now on Pay as you go that's not particularly an issue but I did have to contact Tesco once about an issue with top-up and they were awfully friendly and efficient and that was sorted in one telephone call - in my experience this is extraordinarily strange for a mobile telephone company but the standard for any Tesco product. They've a reasonable but not terribly intensive choice of telephones available on the network and all these can be ordered online, I have got a new telephone since beginning with them and I received £20 free credit with the telephone which was a pleasant bonus. I replenish bundles every month, these are a £2.50 text bundle giving me 50 texts which need to be used inside thirty days and a £2.50 call bundle giving me 25 mins of calls, once these are gone which doesn't typically occur for me I pay the full cost of 10p per text or 20p per minute. These are the tiniest bundles available, there are bigger half-price bundles and you can change every month if you would like to.The cover appears good and I do not usually have issues unless I am out in the sticks where others are wrestling too. |
